Location of the Panthumai Waterfall
Panthumai is an amazingly beautiful village located right beside Meghalaya on the Bangladesh-India border. It is part of West Jaflong Union under Gowainghat Upazila in Sylhet District and is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Bangladesh.
Next to this village is a wide waterfall, locally known as "Fatachorir Zorna" or "Borohil Zorna," but known to all as the Panthumai Waterfall. Although the waterfall originates from the Indian hills, it can be clearly seen from a distance while standing on the banks of the Piain River.
Indian BSF (Border Security Force) camp is located there and the border between the two countries is marked by rows of plum trees. Since there is no BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) post, going near the border is considered risky.
Tourists must rent a boat to enjoy the beauty of Panthumai. In winter, there is hardly any water in this fountain. The best time to see its genuine beauty is during the Monsoon and the following two months when the spring truly comes back to life.
